BSR accelerates ESG implementation toward sustainable development

Environmental regulators commend BSR for its effective implementation of green production policies

At the meeting, BSR leadership emphasized that ESG is both a global trend and a strategic foundation for the Company’s sustainable growth. ESG implementation enhances brand reputation, improves financial access, reduces legal risks and capital costs, and increases market valuation. Following BSR’s official listing on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange on January 17, 2025, ESG has become a key enabler of the Company’s 2025–2030 Development Strategy and vision to 2045.

BSR reaffirmed its strong commitment to ESG, identifying it as a mandatory part of its strategic direction. Effective ESG governance in the oil and gas sector requires leadership accountability, conflict of interest management, active participation from departments, dedicated resources, clear KPIs and reporting, and suitable incentive mechanisms.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Hoi tasked the ESG team with assessing current implementation, enhancing existing initiatives such as HSE, wastewater reuse, and community engagement, and developing concrete plans for upcoming activities such as internal training, ESG communication, and participation in environmental and cultural awards. BSR will align with national biofuel (E5, E10) and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) policies, and continue to improve its annual Sustainability Report and develop an independent ESG report.

Key priorities discussed included building a detailed ESG roadmap, strengthening risk management, corporate culture, digital transformation, innovation, and optimizing the 6th Turnaround plan.

The Refinery Division was assigned to develop energy efficiency targets (EII) to support the CO₂ emissions assessment. The task force also agreed to enhance community relations and learn from ESG best practices in the oil and gas industry and leading Vietnamese corporations.

By implementing ESG in a focused and strategic manner, BSR reinforces its commitment to sustainable development and elevates its market position.

In May 2025, BSR was honored among the Top 10 ESG Vietnam Green Enterprises 2025 – Energy and Oil & Gas Sector and Top 10 Innovative and Efficient Enterprises 2025, as announced by the Finance - Investment Newspaper (Ministry of Finance).
