As part of the official working visit of the leadership delegation of Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group (Petrovietnam) to Thailand and Singapore from May 27 to May 31, 2026, Mr. Bui Ngoc Duong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Petrovietnam Refining and Petrochemical Corporation (BSR), actively participated in and made significant contributions to regional business and technology forums. His engagements further highlighted BSR’s pioneering role in digital transformation, innovation, advanced technology development, and sustainable energy transition.

BSR’s participation in these forums took place against the backdrop of a new phase in Vietnam’s relations with Thailand and Singapore, with a strong focus on enhancing economic connectivity, digital transformation, innovation, high-tech industrial development, and the establishment of globally competitive regional value chains. The events also provided an important opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises, including BSR, to expand international partnerships, gain access to advanced technologies, and deepen their integration into ASEAN’s industrial and energy networks.

On May 28, 2026, in Bangkok, Thailand, Chairman Bui Ngoc Duong joined a panel discussion at the Vietnam - Thailand Business Forum 2026 alongside business leaders, financial institutions, and international experts. The forum was one of the key highlights of the official visit by senior Vietnamese leaders to Thailand, reflecting the determination of both countries to further deepen and strengthen the Vietnam - Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in a substantive and effective manner.

The forum brought together a large number of businesses and investors from both countries, focusing on sectors with the potential to become new growth drivers, including high technology, semiconductors, electric vehicles, the digital economy, logistics, high-tech agriculture, clean energy, and smart manufacturing. In this context, BSR’s active participation - as Vietnam’s leading refining, petrochemical, and energy enterprise - demonstrated the important role of Vietnamese businesses in connecting regional value chains, promoting industrial cooperation, and contributing to ASEAN’s energy transition.

At the forum, senior leaders of both countries emphasized the critical role of the business community in advancing trade, investment, innovation, and regional economic integration. For BSR, the event was not only an opportunity to expand international cooperation but also a platform to showcase its capability to play a deeper role in ASEAN’s energy supply chain, particularly as Vietnam and Thailand prepare to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026.

On May 29, 2026, in Singapore, Chairman Bui Ngoc Duong attended the Vietnam - Singapore Tech Connect Forum, which attracted more than 400 participants from government agencies, research institutes, universities, technology companies, investment funds, and innovation experts from both countries. The forum focused on fostering cooperation in science and technology, innovation, the digital economy, digital transformation, and technology enterprise development, in line with the new strategic cooperation framework between Vietnam and Singapore.

At the forum, BSR clearly demonstrated its development strategy centered on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. Beyond its role as the operator of the Dung Quat Refinery, BSR is gradually transforming into an integrated energy and industrial corporation, focusing on strategic areas such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), new energy solutions, smart manufacturing, advanced materials, and low-emission technologies, in alignment with global energy transition trends and Vietnam’s sustainable development goals.

One of the most notable outcomes of the business trip was the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between BSR and Nikon SLM Solutions Singapore Pte. Ltd. on cooperation in metal additive manufacturing technology, witnessed by senior leaders of Vietnam and Singapore. This milestone reflects the commitment and encouragement of both governments toward collaboration in science and technology, innovation, advanced manufacturing, and high-tech industrial development between enterprises of the two countries.

Nikon SLM Solutions is one of the world’s leading companies in metal additive manufacturing technology, providing advanced industrial 3D printing solutions for aerospace, energy, oil and gas, defense, and manufacturing industries. Its technologies are widely adopted by major global industrial corporations for producing highly complex engineering components requiring exceptional precision and reliability.

Under the MOU, the two parties will collaborate on research, technology transfer, workforce training, technical capability development, and the evaluation of additive manufacturing applications in the energy and refining sectors. Areas of cooperation include Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) technology, process development, advanced metal material management, operational training, quality control, equipment maintenance, and the deployment of practical industrial applications.

The two sides will also jointly assess the feasibility of applying metal 3D printing technology to critical refinery equipment and spare parts, including industrial valves, pumps, heat exchangers, burner assemblies, corrosion-resistant components, and replacement parts with long lead times or discontinued production. The implementation of this technology is expected to shorten procurement lead times, reduce strategic inventory requirements, improve operational reliability, optimize maintenance and repair costs, and gradually strengthen BSR’s technological self-reliance amid ongoing fluctuations in global supply chains.

Furthermore, the MOU opens opportunities to explore the establishment of an additive manufacturing platform serving Vietnam’s energy and industrial sectors. This initiative aims to build smart manufacturing capabilities, support industrial maintenance and repair activities, develop high-value-added technical services, and foster innovation ecosystems within the energy industry.

BSR’s participation in both business and technology forums in Thailand and Singapore further underscores the company’s proactive approach to international integration. While continuing to serve as one of Vietnam’s key energy enterprises, BSR is steadily expanding its presence in high technology, smart manufacturing, innovation, and digital transformation.

As ASEAN accelerates economic integration, strengthens resilient supply chains, and advances high-tech industrial development, BSR’s proactive engagement with leading global technology partners will provide a solid foundation for enhancing competitiveness, strengthening technological autonomy, and deepening participation in regional industrial and energy value chains. Through these efforts, BSR continues to affirm its position as a pioneering enterprise in Vietnam’s energy sector, leading the way in digital transformation, innovation, energy transition, and sustainable development in the new era.
