BSR upholds its corporate traditions, inspires a spirit of dedication and innovation, and lays the foundation for sustainable development in the petrochemical refining industry.

The program celebrating the 29th anniversary of the Vietnam Petroleum Refining and Petrochemical Corporation (BSR) (1997-2026) was attended by Mr. Ho Van Nien - Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang - Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai Province; Mr. Tran Quang Dung - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Group (Petrovietnam); and Mr. Nguyen Manh Kha - Chairman of the Petrovietnam Trade Union.

Representing the Corporation were Mr. Bui Ngoc Duong - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, General Director; along with members of the Board of Directors, the General Management Board, the Supervisory Board, the Management Board of Dung Quat Refinery, leaders of departments, branches, and subsidiaries; and all employees of the Corporation.

Speaking at the event, BSR General Director Nguyen Viet Thang recalled the nearly three-decade journey of the Corporation since the early days of laying the foundation for the Dung Quat Refinery on the vast expanse of white sand, facing countless difficulties.

The inauguration of the country's first oil refinery not only marks the beginning of a key national industrial project but also opens the way to realizing Vietnam's aspiration to master technology, achieve energy self-sufficiency, and develop a modern industrial base.

Throughout its development, BSR has also experienced many periods of significant fluctuations in the global energy market: from the 2008-2009 financial crisis, the period of deep oil price declines from 2014-2016, to the unprecedented impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical shifts that directly affected the supply chain, market, and business operations.

But it is precisely during the most difficult times that the resilience, intelligence, and spirit of BSR workers are affirmed more strongly than ever. This includes the spirit of solidarity, the will to overcome difficulties, the courage to think outside the box, take action, accept responsibility, and the aspiration to operate the plant safely, stably, and efficiently under all circumstances.

"That spirit has become the foundation for BSR's continuous growth and its gradual affirmation of its role and position as a pioneering unit in the energy and petrochemical refining sector of Petrovietnam and the nation," Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang emphasized.

Employees are BSR's most valuable asset

One of the highlights of this year's Cultural Festival is the celebration of outstanding employees who have contributed to the building and development of BSR over the past time. According to BSR's leadership, the most valuable factor contributing to BSR's success is not only its modern technology system or impressive growth figures, but its people. These are the pioneers who laid the foundation for the Dung Quat Refinery; the generations of cadres, engineers, and experts who have dedicated their passion, intellect, and youth to building the BSR brand as it is today.

At the program, many outstanding collectives and individuals were commended and recognized for their remarkable contributions to labor production, innovation, and corporate culture building. In particular, within the framework of the 2026 Workers' Month, the program also served as a token of gratitude to the thousands of workers who are working day and night at the Dung Quat Refinery and its member units. The dedication, responsibility, and creativity of the workers are identified by BSR's leadership as the most important internal strength that helps the enterprise overcome challenges and continuously develop.

From Vietnam's first oil refinery, BSR has now operated the Dung Quat Refinery safely, stably, and efficiently; producing and supplying the market with more than 109 million tons of various products; cumulative total revenue reaching over 1.93 trillion VND; after-tax profit exceeding 67.8 trillion VND; contributing over 262.7 trillion VND to the State budget, equivalent to more than 10 billion USD and more than three times the initial investment capital for the construction of the Dung Quat Refinery.

On average, BSR contributes approximately US$5.5 billion to the economy annually, equivalent to about 1.1% of the country's GDP. BSR is also ranked 7th out of 25 leading brands in Vietnam by Forbes Vietnam; 9th out of 500 largest enterprises in Vietnam in 2024; and consistently ranked in the Top 10 Green ESG enterprises in Vietnam for two consecutive years, 2025 and 2026.

These results not only demonstrate the efficiency of production and business operations, but also affirm BSR's role and responsibility towards national energy security and the socio-economic development of the country.

"Energy guides the way - Transform and reach further"

With the theme "Energy Leads the Way - Transforming and Reaching Further," this year's program is not only a celebration of tradition and gratitude to employees, but also carries a message of aspiration for development in a new phase as BSR officially transitions to a Corporation model. This change is not simply a change in name or organizational scale, but a strategic transformation, opening up a new phase of development with greater stature, position, and aspirations.

In the near future, BSR aims to be among the top 8 petrochemical companies in Southeast Asia by 2030 and among the top 5 in the region by 2050. To realize this goal, BSR will focus on improving its management capabilities to international standards; promoting innovation and digital transformation; developing clean energy and a circular economy; expanding its petrochemical sector; and accelerating key investment projects, especially the Dung Quat Refinery Upgrade and Expansion Project. In its development strategy, BSR always identifies that the most important factor in realizing this aspiration lies not in investment capital or development strategy, but in the change in mindset, awareness, and actions of each employee.

The BSR Cultural Festival 2026 is therefore not only an opportunity to review history and honor achievements, but also a connecting point between tradition and the future. Building upon the foundation forged over nearly three decades of construction and development, BSR continues to inspire a spirit of dedication, innovation, and breakthrough in each employee to collectively strive towards the goal of building a modern, intelligent, and sustainably developing Vietnam Petroleum Corporation.
