On April 1st, in Hanoi, Petrovietnam Deputy General Director Lê Mạnh Cường hosted a meeting with a delegation of Belgian enterprises led by Mr. Geoffroy Clerckx, Director of Brussels International.

The meeting was attended by representatives from leading Belgian companies, including Elia Grid International and Syensqo. On the Petrovietnam side, representatives from the Group’s specialized departments and the Petrovietnam Chemical and Services Corporation (PVChem) were also present.

During the meeting, Mr. Geoffroy Clerckx emphasized the critical role of offshore wind power and LNG-to-power in achieving Net Zero emissions. He expressed optimism that this discussion would lay a solid foundation for future collaboration between Petrovietnam and Belgian enterprises in the green energy sector.

Addressing the delegation, Deputy General Director Lê Mạnh Cường affirmed that, alongside its traditional energy activities, Petrovietnam is actively researching and developing green and renewable energy projects. He highlighted offshore wind power as one of the corporation’s strategic priorities, aiming not only to meet Vietnam’s domestic energy demand but also to export clean energy to international markets, particularly Singapore.

Mr. Lê Mạnh Cường expressed Petrovietnam’s strong interest in collaborating with Belgian enterprises in offshore wind power and LNG-to-power projects. He also discussed potential partnerships with Elia Grid International in developing power grid infrastructure and with Syensqo in the chemical industry. To ensure effective cooperation, he proposed the establishment of a joint working group to facilitate discussions and concretize future collaboration plans.

This meeting marks a significant milestone in enhancing bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Belgium in the renewable energy sector. It reinforces Petrovietnam’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable economic development through innovative energy solutions.
