BSR establishes innovation center to realize breakthrough aspirations through science and technology

BSR accelerates ESG implementation toward sustainable development

Approved by BSR’s Party Executive Committee for the 2025–2030 term, the establishment of the Innovation Center represents a concrete step toward realizing the company’s strategic direction. It aims to promote innovation, apply advanced technologies, accelerate comprehensive digital transformation, and enhance internal capacity to adapt to an evolving business environment.

The center’s full name is: Branch of Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company – BSR Innovation Center (BSR-IC). Located in Da Nang City – the innovation and technology hub of Central Vietnam – BSR-IC stands at the heart of the region’s creative ecosystem.

In early June 2025, BSR successfully completed the research and exported its first batch of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

BSR Innovation Center operates across a broad scope, including research and development in natural and engineering sciences; maintenance and repair of equipment in the refining and petrochemical sector; provision of technical services to support production, processing, and trading of petroleum products, intermediates, and biofuels; management and supply of high-quality human resources for operations, maintenance, laboratory testing, fire prevention, environmental management, health, and occupational safety. The center also offers consulting and quality assurance evaluations in accordance with international standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 17025.

By establishing the Center in Da Nang, BSR demonstrates its strategic vision to integrate into the national innovation ecosystem. The location enables connections and collaboration with young intellectuals, tech experts, universities, research institutes, startups, and social resources, all contributing to value-added growth and sustainable development. The Center is poised to become a critical hub in BSR’s R&D ecosystem, enabling the company to proactively design the future with knowledge and technology rather than merely reacting to market fluctuations.

From 2020 to 2025, BSR has made significant strides in innovation. Thousands of initiatives have been applied directly at Dung Quat Refinery, improving efficiency, optimizing operations, and reducing production costs. The company has pioneered the use of artificial intelligence and big data for equipment monitoring, incident prevention, and energy management - laying the groundwork for the future “Smart Refinery” model.

In recent years, BSR has actively advanced the research and development of a diverse range of new plastic beads.

BSR has also developed a comprehensive digital transformation strategy, with enterprise data platforms and real-time production operation systems already in use. Online training, internal knowledge-sharing platforms, and digital collaboration tools have been expanded to empower technical and managerial teams.

In June 2025, BSR successfully produced and exported its first batch of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), marking a significant milestone in clean energy development and the company’s innovation journey.

The establishment of the BSR Innovation Center is a natural continuation of the company’s accumulated expertise and innovative momentum.
