Dung Quat refinery reaches milestone of 100 million tons of cumulative output
In the context of ongoing fluctuations and challenges in the global energy market, BSR's achievement of producing 100 million tons of products holds significant meaning for ensuring national energy security. It has generated total revenue of over 1.73 trillion VND, contributed more than 237 trillion VND to the state budget, and achieved a profit of over 52 trillion VND. These impressive figures not only affirm BSR's position in Vietnam's energy industry but also demonstrate its contribution to the socio-economic development of the Central and Central Highlands regions. Furthermore, they exemplify BSR's spirit of dedication and ambition to thrive alongside Petrovietnam on the journey of sustainable development.
In 2024, BSR faced a series of challenges, including sharp fluctuations in crude oil prices, narrowing crack spread margins, and increased competition in the domestic market due to regional fuel import tax policies within ASEAN. Additionally, the company carried out the fifth major turnaround of the Dung Quat Refinery, resulting in lower production output compared to previous years. Despite these difficulties, BSR surpassed its production plan 43 days ahead of schedule, achieving a total output of over 6.6 million tons of various products in 2024.

One of the standout achievements in the refinery’s operation - especially in 2024 - was a significant improvement in energy efficiency. For the first time, the Energy Intensity Index (EII) dropped below the 100% benchmark, reaching 99.7%, which helped the company save over USD 10.1 million compared to 2023.
In the field of science and innovation, BSR has actively promoted research and the integration of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles, while increasing the output of high-value products such as DO (Diesel Oil), Jet-A1, polypropylene (PP), and Mogas 95/92 gasoline. In March 2025, BSR was officially awarded the ISCC CORSIA and ISCC EU certifications by SGS Germany GmbH (headquartered in the Federal Republic of Germany). These certifications cover the blending, production, storage, and commercialization of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), opening up new export opportunities for BSR to the European Union market while ensuring compliance with greenhouse gas emission reduction regulations.
Entering 2025, the global energy market remains complex, with various factors causing price instability, fluctuating exchange rates, carbon credits, and emissions rights. Despite these challenges, BSR has achieved impressive business results in the first quarter of 2025. Production output reached over 1.8 million tons (12% above target), total revenue exceeded 32.2 trillion VND (14% above target), and contributions to the state budget amounted to more than 3.38 trillion VND (6% above target). These results provide a solid foundation for BSR to implement effective operational management solutions and excel in its production and business objectives.
With a strong foundation established after producing 100 million tons of products, along with breakthroughs in investment activities, scientific and technological innovation, digital transformation, a circular economy model, and financial stability, BSR is ready to enter a new phase of growth. The company aims for sustainable development while making a positive contribution to national energy security.
