Prime Minister assigns Petrovietnam and EVN as investors for two Ninh Thuan nuclear power projects

Based on Resolution 189 of the National Assembly, which outlines special mechanisms and policies for investment in the construction of the Ninh Thuan nuclear power projects, and the Prime Minister’s conclusions at the second meeting of the Steering Committee on Nuclear Power Plant Construction, the Prime Minister assigned Vietnam Electricity (EVN) to continue as the investor for the Ninh Thuan 1 Nuclear Power Project, which consists of five component projects:

- The Nuclear Power Plant project

- The infrastructure project supporting the construction of the Nuclear Power Plant

- The operations management area, expert zone, and headquarters of the Project Management Board

- The Public Relations Center for the plant

- The human resource training project for the Ninh Thuan 1 Nuclear Power Plant

At the same time, the Prime Minister assigned Petrovietnam as the investor for the Ninh Thuan 2 Nuclear Power Project, which consists of four component projects:

- The Ninh Thuan 2 Nuclear Power Plant project

- The infrastructure project supporting the construction of the plant

- The operations management area, expert zone, and headquarters of the Management Board

- The Public Relations Center for the plant

Additionally, Petrovietnam will implement human resource training for the Ninh Thuan 2 Nuclear Power Plant project to ensure sufficient personnel for the construction and operation of the plant.

The assigned investors must proactively coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies to implement investment preparation steps and carry out their assigned projects in accordance with the special mechanisms and policies approved by the National Assembly in Resolution No. 189/2025/QH15, dated February 19, 2025. The projects must adhere to approved investment policies, ensuring progress, quality, safety, efficiency, and compliance with legal regulations while preventing corruption, wastefulness, and misconduct.

The Prime Minister also tasked the Ministry of Science and Technology with accelerating the implementation of the Nuclear Science and Technology Research Center project and developing a national research program on nuclear technology and safety to support the advancement of nuclear technology in Vietnam.

Ninh Thuan province has been assigned to implement the component project on resettlement and site clearance for the two nuclear power plant projects in accordance with its authority and legal regulations.
