Building an AI-first mindset and practicing on real-world processes
The program was designed and implemented by the AI expert team from FPT Digital (FPT Corporation), who have accompanied Phu My in building the Digital Transformation roadmap, standardizing data, and consulting on AI-first methodologies. The involvement of these experts ensures the program is not only technologically up-to-date but also tailored to the specific operational characteristics of the fertilizer and chemical industry.
Through the training, trainees are equipped with an "AI-First" mindset foundation, learning to recognize AI's role in operational functions as well as how AI supports data processing, information synthesis, reconciliation, and reducing document processing time. Cross-functional processes such as Order-to-Cash and Procure-to-Pay are simulated using real-world data, helping trainees clearly see how AI can shorten processing time by 50–70% and mitigate error risks. This serves as the cornerstone for forming specialized "AI-ized" processes in each department.
Throughout the program, trainees from various departments practiced directly on their unit's data and processes. This approach helps AI move beyond being a mere "support tool" to becoming an integral part of the operational workflow, solving specific challenges in each business area.
-
At Phu My Fertilizer Plant: AI is applied to practical operational tasks such as equipment data analysis, early anomaly detection, building predictive maintenance models, and standardizing shift reports. Operations specialists practiced summarizing technical documents, automating shift handover minutes, synthesizing production-consumption-downtime data, and designing incident response processes based on automation tools. These applications open up possibilities for smarter operations, reducing machine downtime risks, and improving production efficiency.
-
For Finance & Accounting: AI is used to create debt reports, reconcile revenue, standardize data, and support payment control. Large-capacity Excel/CSV files are automatically read and analyzed by AI, extracting information from invoices, contracts, and entry slips to perform reconciliation based on the 3-way match principle. Consequently, departments have formed a template set to check document validity—an important foundation for reducing risks and building early warning mechanisms in the finance-payment cycle.
-
For Technical Safety & Commercial: AI helps shorten vendor profile review times, extract and compare information from quotations, and cross-reference technical standards and ESG criteria. The vendor suitability analysis process becomes more consistent and systematic, while the Commercial division can process multi-format quotations, quickly synthesize market information, and look up internal procurement procedures, increasing transparency across the entire supply chain.
-
For Sales, Marketing & Communications: AI is applied to analyze weekly dealer reports, identify demand trends, and build customer personas to support production and distribution planning. Sales staff practiced standardizing product consultation content, looking up sales policies, and personalizing messages for different customer groups. In communications, AI supports converting technical specifications into easy-to-understand content, drafting copy, suggesting ideas, and optimizing messaging, significantly shortening campaign deployment time.
-
For Legal & Human Resources: AI helps standardize and accelerate many complex tasks: legal document retrieval, contract review, meeting minutes drafting, and building lean recruitment processes. HR staff were guided on how to use AI to screen CVs, match CVs to JDs (Job Descriptions), and assess candidate suitability; when combined with automation tools, the entire process can be reduced to under 30 minutes. In the legal field, AI supports clause synthesis, file standardization, and reducing research time.
The most crucial aspect of the program lies not in the number of tasks supported by AI, but in the fact that each department has begun to review its own processes from a new perspective: Which processes can be standardized? Which data needs to be cleaner? Which steps can be automated?
The training series has contributed to shaping the capability for proactive, methodical AI utilization, directly linked to the goals of process optimization and operational acceleration. This is also a vital preparation step for Phu My to enter the phase of deploying Agentic AI and end-to-end automation in the 2026–2030 period.

Kickstarting a smarter operational model
With the foundation built, Phu My possesses a strong premise to make AI a core operational capability in the fertilizer and chemical business. The practical exercises in each department have unlocked the ability to standardize processes, accelerate information analysis, enhance transparency, and improve decision-making quality.
From this platform, Phu My is ready to expand from "task-based AI application" to "AI-first process design," moving towards smarter, more accurate, and more efficient operations in the coming years.
